How Citizen Scientists can use the law to make their case!
In this episode, I discuss how we can use citizen science to get environmental justice. I invited Anne Berti Suman to join me during this episode. Dr. Anna Berti Suman is a postdoctoral researcher at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society, seconded at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC).
Anna is performing research on the potential of Citizen Sensing for environmental litigation and mediation in the project Sensing for Justice. In her PhD project she investigated how Citizen Sensing influences the governance of environmental health risk and how the practice can be integrated with institutional models of risk governance.
With her, I discuss the Sensing for Justice project, how it came to be and what toolbox it will deliver for communities to enable them to use the law to make their case.
I also present to her a case here in the Netherlands from the Project group Surface Water Quality Oostland, in short POKO, so she can advise them what to do to make their case.
